Charlotte Theology Pub - 9/12/07 (Wednesday)

That’s right… we  had a great discussion last time. Even if there were only three of us. Tyler Ashworth made his debut appearance and we talked about why we think theologically and why we do theology. It was great. If you’re reading this post, try coming out this week to the Flying Saucer in Charlotte. We’d love to have you!

Charlotte Theology Pub… Perhaps you’ve heard of it?…. On Facebook No Doubt?

This Wednesday will be the first- ever “Charlotte Theology Pub” Meeting. I’m hoping for this to be an exciting time to discuss theology and philosophy and whatever else happens to come out of it. I think it will be a good chance to interact with others and build a community of those within faith, those outside it, and those who don’t quite no where they fall in the mix. I hope to open up with introductions about one another and build from there on different topics everyone might want to discuss. Anyone is free to come out and join in the discussion and this is the perfect time to do it. After all, it is the first night. Better to come when no one knows anyone than when you don’t know anyone and everyone else does, right? Haha. Anyway, we’d love to see you out there.

Remember, sometimes the questions are more important than the answers.

Place: Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (Charlotte, NC)

Time: Wed. @ 7:30- until?

What to bring?: Nothing. Just yourself. Maybe some money for beer and food if you want. Perhaps, a book you would like for the group to read and discuss.

Friends…Romans…Countrymen…Lend me your Beers!

The Flying Saucer Beer Update: 42/200 beers tasted. Keeping you updated. Hoping to have my Saucer party in the winter. That’s a 100 dollar tab for all my friends…so, if you consider me a friend then get ready.bm1185beer-white-guys-dance-posters.jpg

Trappist Breweries

Today I was thinking about how cool it would be to brew my own beer. There are some trappist monks that brew their own beer and sell it in stores around the world. Of course there are a few rules:
* The beer must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, by or under control of Trappist monks.
* The brewery, the choices of brewing, and the commercial orientations must obviously depend on the monastic community.
* The economic purpose of the brewery must be directed toward assistance and not toward financial profit.

Read about it here on Wikipedia!

I was thinking something the likes of a Brooklyn Brown Ale or Newcastle Brown. Perhaps Blue Moon-ish.

I’ll let you know how this progresses.
