Charlotte Theology Pub - 9/12/07 (Wednesday)

That’s right… we  had a great discussion last time. Even if there were only three of us. Tyler Ashworth made his debut appearance and we talked about why we think theologically and why we do theology. It was great. If you’re reading this post, try coming out this week to the Flying Saucer in Charlotte. We’d love to have you!

What: Charlotte Theology Pub Meeting

Where: Flying Saucer

When: Wednesday @ 7:30 pm

Charlotte Theology Pub… Perhaps you’ve heard of it?…. On Facebook No Doubt?

This Wednesday will be the first- ever “Charlotte Theology Pub” Meeting. I’m hoping for this to be an exciting time to discuss theology and philosophy and whatever else happens to come out of it. I think it will be a good chance to interact with others and build a community of those within faith, those outside it, and those who don’t quite no where they fall in the mix. I hope to open up with introductions about one another and build from there on different topics everyone might want to discuss. Anyone is free to come out and join in the discussion and this is the perfect time to do it. After all, it is the first night. Better to come when no one knows anyone than when you don’t know anyone and everyone else does, right? Haha. Anyway, we’d love to see you out there.

Remember, sometimes the questions are more important than the answers.

Place: Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (Charlotte, NC)

Time: Wed. @ 7:30- until?

What to bring?: Nothing. Just yourself. Maybe some money for beer and food if you want. Perhaps, a book you would like for the group to read and discuss.

A Global Warning!

I feel like I have a billion books I want to read and a thousand movies I want to watch. I haven’t had time to read or watch them. The heat has been getting to me.

And this is why:

Not this:

This:

It’s been “record-breaking heat of death” all week and it’s not done yet. Darn you Global Warming! I’ve been so fried after working in the hot sun all day that I haven’t felt like doing anything when I get home in the evening.

This is for you sun:

I hope you can see this, because I’m doing it as hard as I can.

Books!

I have all my books listed on LibraryThing.com

If you would like to read any of my books, you may borrow one.

Or,

Perhaps you would like to sign on to Library Thing and upload your library of books so that we may all look on in amazement.

Glorious.

If you are in the Charlotte Emergent Cohort: Visit this page to join our book group!

Burly out.

Real Men Love Jesus…

I wonder if you have ever seen that bumper sticker? Made famous by the Promise Keepers Convention. I have problem with this. Does the fact that a man doesn’t love Jesus make him any less of a man? I don’t think so. I think this also causes a problem for Christians in general. I mean, when a person who doesn’t ascribe themselves as a lover of Jesus sees this sticker, what goes through their head? “Those Christian elitists!” Come on! The only men on this earth are Christians????

You know what makes you a man? I think it’s called a penis.

“OK class, that concludes our lecture on “The Man.” (some School of Rock humor)
